Good luck with that Samantha…..I have never been a fan of hers, so I am happy she is leaving the show…..I wish the show could provide more STARS….lately, they have been scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Remembering Celebrities’ Scandalous Pasts

You know we have a lot of celebrities right now that have turned their lives around from where they were years ago. However, some people want to judge these same celebrities on their long ago past behavior or even based on long ago rumored behavior. So I’ve started a thread just for people to rip on celebs for what is no longer current. I guess I am tired of seeing "past" topics brought up on current threads and I thought this would be a nice outlet for those who have the need to "rag on and on and on and on…….into infinity" about something that isn’t relevant anymore.

Oh, as a footnote, you can put dead celebs in here too. I am sure there are some of you that would like to tear apart those who have passed to the other side because you still think they deserve some kind of punishment that they never got. Michael Jackson anyone?:smileyindifferent:

Since the previous thread got co-opted for male actors, I’ll start a companion thread for the females.

My choice would fall among Americans Joanne Woodward, Elizabeth Taylor*, Meryl Streep, and Glenn Close, and Brits Dame Maggie Smith, Dame Judy Dench, Dame Helen Mirren, and Emma Thompson. I also have to consider the great Chinese female actor, Gong Li.

* Dame Elizabeth Taylor could also be considered a British actor, but I believe most people think of her as American since her career was almost entirely in American films set in the US.

Will Smith was just voted one of the most trustworthy celebrities by Forbes.com, and he did save the world from being overrun by killer zombies in “I Am Legend.” So maybe talk of the actor running for President of the United States isn’t that far-fetched.

PopEater.com reports Will’s wife Jada reignited the chatter about his interest in government while being interviewed by German magazine Bunte.

“Will is thinking about going into politics,” she told the magazine. “He once said he could imagine becoming a U.S. president. He wasn’t joking, he was quite serious about it.”

Put an end to the Tonight Show mess

Help me understand……PLEASE

Jay Leno’s Tonight Show was getting higher rating than every other late night show.

NBC replaced Jay with Conan.

People didn’t like taking Jay off so NBC gave Jay a new show during prime time hours.

Conan and the Tonight Show rating did not do well.

Jay on prime time did not do well.

NBC ask Jay to do a show before Conan on the Tonight Show 1/2 hour later.

Jay said OK but Conan said NO deal.

NBC gives Jay the Tonight Show back and Conan takes big bucks and departs.

What I do not understand is if Jay’s Tonight Show had good rating why did NBC take the show away in the

first place. Now everyone hates Jay because NBC messed up. Is it fair to hate Jay because NBC messed up.

If Jay had said no to going back to the Tonight Show would they have let Conan keep the show

regardless to the fact that the rating were going down with Conan? The whole thing seemed stupid to

me. why take Jay off if the rating were great int he first place. NBC needs new leadership.

The John Travolta Family Tragedy & Healing

Whatever works to help the process of grieving and healing, is key. If Scientology, in it’s support system, has been effective….That is the message. I raised four children and always stated that the death of one of my children would

take me to a place of despair that I have never known! John Travolta seems to be a very loving, kind, thoughtful and

generous man. The void in the hearts of this family will live on forever and let’s hope that the spirit of their son Jett will

help move them to a continuous healing place. I do admire that they keep their Scientology dogma to themselves.

If that is their method of psychotherapy and it is working……..I say…GO IN PEACE and May The Road Rise With Them.

Travolta’s Scientology

John Travolta and Kelly Preston’s life together thus far is a model for others, regardless of their association with Scientology. And Scientology is as much a religion as any other institutionalized and belief-based hierarchical practice, and is indeed as personal as its followers’ satisfaction with those criteria. The Travolta family’s experience of losing a loved one to an inexplicable medical crisis is a bond with other families’ "self-found" horror, and is not an exclusive matter to some mercurial anti-establishment failure. John Travolta would be an interesting individual if he was lacking in personal wealth, just as he is in spite of personal wealth. Look at his life’s interests: work, play, creativity and pride in his family. Isn’t this "the American way?" Travolta’s humanitarian gesture of selfless personal charity to those in need — and the Haitian tragedy is NOT his first charitable expression! — is a hallmark of his. It’s time to stop the actor-bashing rhetoric and start to congratulate this family on its merits, rather than on its wealth. John Travolta is a good man with a good occupation and a good family. Negative rhetoric is just a feature of poor human emotion. Religion is a personal expression, not an individual failure. Thanks, John. I hope you’ve taken some time to talk with Dr. Bill Cosby — he’s a good man too.
