Over the Fourth of July weekend comedian Dave Chappelle exercised his freedom — his freedom to totally freak out.
A source close to the peculiar situation told TMZ that on Saturday Chappelle boarded a private jet in New Jersey that was headed to Ohio, where he resides. During the flight Dave’s behavior become so unpredictable that they had to make an emergency landing in Pittsburgh after he entered the cockpit to ask about their arrival time and allegedly grabbed the pilot’s arms.
According to TMZ’s source, after the plane was safely grounded Chappelle checked into a local hotel and inquired about a rental car. He supposedly told hotel employees he wanted to drive home to Ohio, but couldn’t remember exactly where his home was located.
Chappelle’s rep released a mini statement to defend his odd actions saying Dave ate something that didn’t quite agree with him and he needed a restroom.
Here’s where it gets weird…Dave’s rep goes on to say that the restroom on the plane was “not the kind he needed.”
What does that even mean?
From Dave’s erratic behavior to his rep’s bizarre explanation, it sounds like both of them are still up in the clouds.
But this isn’t the first time Dave Chappelle’s behavior has been a cause for concern.
The comedian-turned-TV star shocked the public after he abruptly left the country to travel to South Africa during production of the third season of his hit program “Chappelle’s Show,” abandoning a $25 million deal in the process.
There were rumors of drug or psychiatric treatment, but Chappelle claimed he simply went there to reflect on his life.
