One of the only three brother team to play in the same outfield, Matty Alou passed away at his home in the Dominican Republic Thursday. Probably the least well-known of the Alou’s, he was nonetheless an excellent baseball player, winning the batting title while playing with the Pirates. What I remember of all the Alou’s was that they were all gentlemen, good guys who played the game with respect and had fun doing it. My prayers go out to his family.
