"Mildred Pierce"

This question is for the "old heads" or anyone who is a classics movie fan.

I could hardly believe when I heard yesterday that Kate Winslet is set to appear in a remake of "Mildred Pierce" (a Joan Crawford role). I howled trying to figure out who could adequately play "Veda" (Mildred’s "evil" daughter). Thoughts? Who is bad enough to play "Veda"?

P.S. What do you think of Kate playing the role? And, who’ll they get to play Eve Arden’s role? (P.S. I love Eve Arden… what a character!!)
