Phillies
Two things: Firstly, I believe it was indeed the Phillies fans that started the boos…..any angry Met fans would have just been chiming-in. Secondly, this guy is known for aggressive behavior…..has he ever been tested (honestly, Im not sure). This behavior is extremely common with any steroid use. Shame on MLB if he never was or never gets tested in the very near future. You did it to JC Romero, and if not to this clown, then you need to grow a set.
Tons of teams did an excellent job upgrading, Rangers, Yankees, Phillies especially, what do you guys think about some of the moves? Im excited to see Capps as a Twin, they needed the bp help, and im sad to see Lilly and Theriot go for the Cubs. They were 2 f the few players who had heart on that team..

Of course Oswalt doesn’t want to go to the Phillies and he really isn’t that interested in winning. His ego won’t let him be a number three starter even for all the money he makes.
Being a loyal Twins fan, I have one question. Who in the world made up this schedule. The Twins face Atlanta, Colorado, Phillies,Brewers and the Mets while Detroit and Chicago face the likes Houston, Arizona, Pirates and Nationals. Give me a break. No wonder the Tigerettes and White anklettes are winning some games. But it will catch up with them and we will prevail.. Never question the VOICE

What looked to be a great pitching match-up last night between the reigning National League Champions, the Phillies, and the World Champion Yankees was undone by the sloppy pitching of Roy “Doc” Halladay. In giving up a triple, three home runs and 5 runs in total Doc hardly looked like the same guy who had pitched a perfect game earlier in the season. For his part C.C Sabaitha was just O.K and pitched what I call a “quality start”-3 runs in 7 innings. Before there is any confusion about this I still think of the Phillies as a elite team. They are just not playing that way. Some people may say, with some justification, that the injury of Jimmy Rollins is the reason. It may be part of it but it didn’t make Halladay look like a batting practice pitcher last night. With the Braves and Mets pulling ahead Philadelphia had better get its act together soon. The Yankees have had injuries and underperfomers too but they are tied for their Division with the best record in MLB. Tampa is going to be hard to beat this year. The Phillies are carrying a heavy payroll and its win or else for them. Ah, life at the top is hard and even harder staying there.
Nobody has been tougher on the Mets in recent years then me. I called their organization dysfuntional this spring. They have, however, started to adapt to their homer-unfriendly ballpark and have a decent starting staff and just enough hitting to win games in bunches. They now are several games up on the pathetic Phillies and chasing Atlanta for the N.L East Divsion. Frankly I’m shocked! Anybody else notice this happening?
That tiny little object up ahead is the Braves pulling away. The larger objects in our rear view are the Mets and Marlins, with the fish coming in for a 3 game series. We have been awfully spoiled Phillies fans. Truth is, nothing good lasts. Teams are pitching to scouting reports and we are not making adjustments. I am unofficially calling for Milt Thompson’s firing. Utley and Howard constantly hit into shifts. Werth STILL chases high fastballs. Ibanez is a day late on his swing. Adjustments need to be made. A fire needs to be lit in the cold void of complacency. Amaro needs to start by axing the hitting coach. Then pending results, make more changes next year. Starting with Ibanez. Let me put it to you this way Phillies fans…we are a notorious interleague DUD and we are slumping before the bulk of our interleague schedule even gets here. Suddenly I don’t feel so good. :smileysad:
I know a lot of people might not agree with this, but why don’t the Phillies pick him up cheap. He knows the system, and would be a right handed power bat off the bench. They could also give Ibanez a day off now and then, and have a guy out there that knows the position, and has a bat. I realize Burrell has had his trouble batting in Tampa, but that’s not really surprising going into the DH role in a new town while watching your former team continue to tear it up. Ross Gload is ok, but he’s not a real power threat, and he almost never plays the in the field. Burrell’s only 33, would be another right handed batter with home run power, could be picked up cheap, has the fan support, and the rest of the team really likes him. To me it would be a win-win.
