I never did like her music but from what I understand if you want to work for taylor swift you had better

be on call 24 hours a day. So you better not have a life or a family

Its over for the red sox this year, Lackey, Becket, Wakefield pitched pretty bad,  Pedroia instead of resting his broken foot he was sitting in a chair taking grounders, and made his situation worse.  Pedroia needs to call it a season and come back healthy next year.  in fact pitch the starters 5-6 innings, and let some of the relievers who may not be around next year take up the load and not risk getting the starters injured.  It was a disappointing season and Ive never seen anything like it.  Losing most of their starting lineup to injuries was too much.  the starters with the exception of bucholtz and Lester, and a little from dice k was a nightmare to watch.  Wakefield had his day, but he was terrible this year, and the sox need to dump some of these overpaid players like varitek, wakefield, Lowell, and yes big papi, keep papi but he’s not worth 9 million a year.  maybe 3-5 years ago he was worth that, not now. Martinez is a great bat, and really good first baseman, move youk to third, and find a catcher, not varitek. Lowell if he didn’t have hip problems that will only get worse, is time to let him go, paying him over 7 million a year for a guy who can’t play in the field or run the bases, its time to find a replacement for Lowell. And not from Pawtucket, but some real established guys, and not over 33. JD Drew, a great player, but he could go on the DL any minute and is one hamstring pull away from being sidelined for half a season.  the sox need to dump the old and bring in the established and young, it cost money but its worth it, just ask the Yankees.

Are the gamecocks that good or did Usm play a bad game? I have to say, usc looked good last night. Pomblanc, what has coach Bradford done to the eagle defense? The eagles have always been about defense! Florida and Georgia better look out cause the ole ball coach might have em ready this year.

Here we go again.  Last week I took a lot of garbage.  If you look at the NFL you’ll see that they go strictly by W-L and then alphabetically.  I go by W-L but the factor in PF-PA.  Thus a 2-2 team with a PF-PA of 123-92 will be above a 3-1 with a PF-PA of 83-61.

Next week we’ll start the regular season.

Just a note, picking every game, every week,  over the last five years I’ve ran  in the eighty percentile range.

San Francisco 49ers

Minnesota Vikings

Baltimore Ravens

Green Bay Packers

New Orleans Saints

Pittsburgh Steelers

Sad to say that for personal reasons I’m moving on from Comcast. I have thoroughly enjoyed this forum and most that post on it; knowledgeable and passionate fans of the game and their teams. While I have been both berated and praised for some of my posts, what I will take most from this experience is not what I wrote but what I read. Trust me, you’re never too old to learn and there certainly has been a lot of food for thought that got my attention by offering a different perspective, sometimes changing my own. Good luck to all the teams represented on here, you have represented their “fandom” well.

So who do you think will come out on top?  Being a die-hard Saints fan since the “Brown paper bag” days my heart says the Saints will win.  Realisticly I still think the Saints will win simply because at this point they are the better prepared team.  Their QB has been in camp all season as have all of the wide recievers.  Reggie Bush seems to be a man on a mission to prove he is worth the money they are paying him this year and to validify the tainted Heisman trophy that USC gave back.  Also in his favor he is no longer Mr Kardasian so maybe he will have more energy on Sundays for playing the game.

I cannot help but wonder if the Jets and their fans like how they are coming off in this years version of Hard Knocks. In know the buzz has been about Coach Dungy’s thoughts on Ryan’s vocabulary but I see another story developing. I have watched every season of Hard Knocks and I have never seen a team come away looking more cheap or maybe even greedy. I think it is safe to say that everyone knows the NFL is a business and realize the teams are run like fortune 500 companies.   Star players earn salaries compareable to what Enron paid there executives and like Enron it seems like the little people don’t matter. Don’t get me wrong, I know the other teams do the exactly the same thing but they hide it.  I also realize that the Jets have their own special type economic pressures that other teams who do not share a city with a historically more successful team might face. Not to mention the fact that they are in a business that relies on people having and using disposable income on the jets while living in one of the most expensive places to live in the country.

However, with some of the things they say, you have to wonder if they know the cameras are recording.  Look at what happened in episode 4 as an example.  Tannebaum and Ryan mention in conversation their goal is to pay their starters well but they want to have all of the back ups making their minimums.  Then they call Clemens the 3rd QB in and tell him that unless he agrees to for go his contract and accept him minimum, they will release him.  What are the chances of a 3rd string QB could find a team this late in the pre-season.  Lastly they tell a long time veteran wide reciever they are going to cut him but that they plan to re-aquire him after week 1 so they don’t have to pay him his salary because they need to have money available if Revis re-joins the team.  While all these cuts and claims are being made, ESPN starts recieving reports that Revis and the team are close to making a deal and he should be in camp the next day even though the team has refused to talk to Revis since the 1st week of training camp.

You hear people from reality shows complaining that the editors and producers twist minor problems into full scale crisis to increase ratings and that could be the case here.  However, to me is seems like there is something rotten in the state of the Meadowlands..

I feel that both of them should grow up, and that this should have been an internal thing. It should not be in the open and it sends the wrong message to our young both white, asian, black, latino, or whatever. Jim Brown irregardless of the fact, should not HAVE TO BE PAID TO SHOW UP AT SUCH AN EVENT, NOR ANY OTHER PLAYER, IF THAT’S THE CASE —- THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS SORT OF THING AT ALL. THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT PLAYERS AND OLDER PLAYERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THE LUXURY OF BEING NOMINATED TO THE HALL OF FAME AND I BELIEVE THAT THOSE PLAYERS FROM THE START OF THE GAME SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED, AFTER ALL THEY STARTED THE GAME. GRAMMY 67  I would also like to say that some of these players were before my time.

ALSO, I BELIEVE THAT AN 18 GAME WOULD BE GREAT, BUT THEY NEED TO ELIMINATE THE PRESEASON TO MAYBE TWO GAMES EACH AND LET THE SECOND, AND THIRD STRINGS GET A CHANCE TO PLAY, SO THEY CAN SEE WHAT THEY HAVE, SO THE PLAYERS WHO START CAN A LITTLE TIME TO REGROUP.  ALSO THE ONES THAT STAY AWAY, SHOULD BE MADE TO SIT OUT THE SEASON, BECAUSE SOMEONE ON THE TEAM IS AS GOOD OR BETTER. IT’S TIME FOR THE CRY BABIES TO SHUT UP OR GET OUT, GO PLAY AREANA BALL.
