John Junker, the CEO of the Fiesta Bowl, was fired for scheming to repay political contributions and other financial improprieties. He was making $600,000 annually. Maybe not in the lofty ranges of the college coaches but still it’s nothing to sneeze at in todays’ economy. The sad thing is he was really good at doing his job, building the Fiesta Bowl from just another game to one the BCS stars.
