Bama wins the Iron Bowl.  Trent looked really good in gaining those 203 yards.  Auburn has some good players though, and next year should be more of a game. Now it’s up to the remaining teams and the computers and voters. Good Game to BOTH teams!

What happened to Auburn? Did Auburn’s run defense become that bad since last year, or is Utah State that good in their ground game? I was not able to see the game, but I’m wondering if anyone thought Utah State was that good.

I’d hoped to get last seasons chair winners to do a preseason top 25 apiece for the soon to start season.   I’d do the pick out of 10 and ask for guest slate makers for some weeks, Fl Duck, Melviss, Ghone come to mind for openers.   Pretty much use the same format  as last season and award 3 chairs to rank the mythical top 16 at the end.   Before listing, I cut my final pasting from just before final bowls last year:::     teams eliminated by post season bowl losses:   7. WI 10 MI St 14. AR 15. MO 16.VPI   So…. by thread final top 16 that leaves:   1. OR 2. Auburn 3. TCU 6. Stanford 8. Ohio St 13. OK   looks to me like this years’ “screwees” would be Stanford and TCU.   I say this because I think Ohio St would have lost to either OSU or Stanford coming out of their bracket, I think Stanford is playing well enough to play with anyone right now. I think OK would have lost to either LSU or Auburn.  TCU would have had to face OR in their quarter final bracket and stats say OR wins. (just another ‘belly button’).   SO…   IF AL had not been eliminated by Auburn during the reg season, IMO they would be OR’s opponent in a mythical playoff semifinal, and Auburn would have to face Stanford on the other side (just imagine that Duck, lol)   Frankly having seen everything to date, those could very well be the 4 very best teams in 1a ball right now.   Oh well, ifs and buts.   To make everything nice and tidy and to provide grist for the major college blah blah mill,  I would envision OR and TCU tied for a separate REGULAR SEASON TITLE CROWN, with O having a shot at validating and emphatically reiterating that status in a spot in the PLAYOFF TOURNAMENT NC game versus Auburn.   To me that makes Stanford the victim of the biggest screwing because I am not sure Auburn could beat them in our thread format semifinal.  Not to alienate anyone I also think a healthy AL team would be a serious test for OR on the other bracket side.   To me it is just as conceivable that OR and Stanford could have had a rematch in a play off title game ; or likewise with Auburn vs AL having the same sort of scenario if thay had won through their brackets.   I don’t want to offend anyone, but I just arbitrarily see TCU being discarded and OR handling OK or Ohio St to make it through.   I think I am dreaming here.    Imagine that…..     PLAYOFFS !!!!!     Week 1, 2011     1) Villanova @ Temple 2) TCU @ Baylor 3) Northwestern @ Boston College 4) Delaware @ Navy 5) BYU @ Ol Miss 6) Boise St @ UGA 7) USF @ ND 8) LSU vs Oregon 9) CO @ Hawaii 10) UCLA @ Houston     Tie Breaker:   James Madison @ VPI (and TOTAL POINTS scored)

Report: NCAA continues probe of Auburn, Newton     NEW YORK (AP) — An NCAA official told Auburn coach Gene Chizik that it is not done investigating the Tigers’ football program and the recruitment of Cam Newton, The New York Times reported Wednesday.   Chizik asked NCAA vice president for enforcement Julie Roe Lach several questions, including why the NCAA had not announced that the Newton investigation was finished, during a presentation at the Southeastern Conference meetings in Destin, Fla., last month.   “You’ll know when we’re finished,” Roe Lach told Chizik, according to several coaches who were at the meeting, the Times reported. “And we’re not finished.”   Vanderbilt basketball coach Kevin Stallings, LSU basketball coach Trent Johnson, Mississippi basketball coach Andy Kennedy and Arkansas basketball coach Mike Anderson all confirmed the exchange to the newspaper.   Kennedy told the Times he believed Chizik “was trying to get some finality to when the process was over, and it was an interesting debate, to say the least. I think the format of the meeting was set up to be generally about the lay of the land going forward. When he got into specific questions regarding their situation, I think we were all sitting back saying, ‘I didn’t know that we were going here.’”   Newton won the Heisman Trophy and led Auburn to a perfect season and national championship last season, his only one with the Tigers.   Late in the season, the NCAA ruled that Newton’s father, Cecil, had tried to get Mississippi State to pay $180,000 for his son to play for the Bulldogs. Cam Newton ended up choosing Auburn instead of Mississippi State when he was being recruited out of junior college.   The NCAA also ruled there was no evidence Cam Newton or Auburn knew about Cecil Newton’s pay-for-play scheme, so neither was punished. Was planning on changing but the wife has channels on here she cant get from the other provider so im back.     Auburn #1 NC`s.     Kozbee.

One thing is certain about the NCAA, when they are building a case for lack of institutional control, they will tack on every allegation they can find, and in this case they may be very well working to establish a pattern of corrupt practices.  Next thing you know Auburn will be shutting down their Tigerette program because they have “hostess” issues, something Tennessee knows all about. Water wet, sky blue, NCAA probing Auburn… again   Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a man walks into an Auburn bar, and trips over an NCAA investigator…   A new day has dawned, so, of course, it’s time to bring you word of a new NCAA investigation involving the Auburn football program and its since-banned “Tiger Prowl”.  This investigation, though, should not be confused with the NCAA’s ongoing probe into the Cam Newton situation.  Or the ongoing probe into Auburn recruiting practices.  Or the ongoing probe into allegations made by four former players on an HBO show.   Or this is just one big ol’ probe underneath one huge NCAA umbrella.  One of the two.   The Birmingham News reported Thursday that they had requested of the school any records pertaining to individual violations that may have arisen from last year’s “Tiger Prowl” recruiting caravan.  The thing is, Auburn was forced to deny the open-records request because, you guessed it, last year’s “Tiger Prowl” is currently part of a pending NCAA investigation and, the paper writes, Alabama law therefore does not require release of the records at this time.   “The NCAA is not reviewing Tiger Prowl as individual violations. They are reviewing the entire event as a whole,” Auburn Senior Associate Athletics Director Scott Carr wrote the News via email. “Therefore, the investigative phase of this event is still ongoing and we are currently working with the NCAA.”   The paper goes on to note that Auburn would not comment further on what the NCAA is investigating in relation to last year’s “Prowl”.   “Tiger Prowl” first appeared in April of 2009 in Gene Chizik ‘s first year as AU’s coach.  That year, coaches would pile into a white or black stretch limo Hummer, and proceeded to travel from high school to high school to high school visiting potential recruits, hoping to make enough of an impression on the players that, come Signing Day, they’d put pen to paper and fax their intentions to Auburn.  The event was held again the following year , only this time with pimped-out buses/motor coaches.   Shortly after “Tiger Prowl v2.0″ began, however, the NCAA passed a measure that prevented a school from sending more than two coaches in any one day to the same high school.   On a completely unrelated note, we can neither confirm nor deny the rumors circulating that the NCAA is considering relocating its home office to the state of Alabama in order to save on travel costs.

Alabama Crimson Tide “Fan” & tree killer   Edited on Thu Feb-17-11 06:06 PM by RT Atlanta What a despicable POS. 62 years old people. I present to you: one Harvey “Al” Updyke, of Dadeville, Alabama. “This” behavior and the sneers that go with their feigned air of superiority, is what the Auburn family is constantly dealing with in Alabama. Here’s the swine in “happier” (and more delusional) times: A few snips from the article: An Alabama man has been arrested in connection to the poisoning of Auburn’s famed Toomer’s Corner oak trees, WTVM in Auburn is reporting. According to the television station, 62-year-old Harvey Almorn Updyke of Dadeville, Ala., was arrested Wednesday night and has been charged with one count of first-degree criminal mischief, a Class C felony that carries a punishment of one to 10 years. University experts, with the help of officials from several different agencies — for example, soil samples were tested at Mississippi State — are doing everything in their power to save the 130-year-old trees, although all evidence points to them fighting a losing battle. Our beloved Oaks at Toomer’s Corner (right after the BCS Championship): And one of the mighty Oaks at Toomer’s Corner a long time ago (looking toward the direction from which the photographer stood to photo the picture above):                           Al the true Tide Fan trying ti impress the camera`s and moved up to Cams at Toomers Corner

NCAA Next Stop is Arkansas & Walt Williams   The NCAA has been down in Thibodaux, LA interviewing Trovon Reed, Greg, Robinson and their HS Coach, Dennis Lorio. Both are Auburn Recruits.   Reed, a former Thibodaux quarterback, signed with Auburn in 2010 and was redshirted his freshman season. Robinson, an offensive lineman, was a part of the defending national championship’s 2011 signing class.   The NCAA’s investigation also centered around Thibodaux resident Sean Nelson’s involvement in the recruiting of Reed and Robinson. Nelson, who became Reed’s guardian after his mother died two years ago, took both players on visits to Auburn. Both players were interviewed for 5 hours in Thibodaux by the NCAA. Would have loved to be a fly on the wall, but have been told by sources close to Reed, that the meeting did not go well for Auburn or Reed.   Next up for the NCAA is to head North to Fayettville, AR and start investigating the recruitment of Michael Dyer, Kiehl Frazier, Dakota Moseley and Kodi Burns. All 3 are Auburn football players and are somehow involved with Walt Williams. Williams is the owner of Pinnacle Preps, LLC.   Pinnacle helps promote high school prep stars to colleges. Pinnacle “marketing” service owned and operated by Walt Williams, a graduate of Shiloh Christian who played under Gus Malzahn, and still has a relationship with him.  He makes up to 3k making a kids recruiting website, talking him up to coaches, editing videos, etc. Auburn calls these guys “Handlers” and they have more and more “Handlers” each year to circumnavigate the parents of these recruits. From the Pinnacle Website: Promotion This is the step where our team joins the effort to further help your chances of being recruited. Through our relentless marketing and our saturation of college markets we are able to get your name and skill set out in front of many of America’s best football programs. DVD’s, personal website’s and promotion materials are some of the ways we can help you become more publicized. IF the allegations in the Complaint filed by Lindsey Smart against Pinnacle Preps, LLC and Walt Williams in Washington County Circuit Court on February 12, 2010 are true, any amateur athlete using Walt Williams or Pinnacle organization services in full as described may have their eligibility in JEOPARDY.   Auburn tried to do this very shady deal with Alabama commit, Cyrus Kouandjio and thus messed Cyrus up mentally on where he wanted to commit to play football. There are rumors that Cyrus and the Kouandjio family turned in Auburn and the “Handler, Brian Overstreet”, that Auburn tried to use in his recruitment. Cyrus’ parents  had NEVER visited the campus or spoken with Cyrus’ parents.   For the full story of why Williams and Pinnacle are BAD NEWS, Go Here.   Can Newton may have gotten by with the loophole, but LSU and Arkansas are raising holy crap about players being bought and the NCAA nor SEC Commissioner, Mike Slive can afford to turn a blind eye to all of these other SEC schools. It’s only a matter of time. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
