The huge egos of the Yankees were clearly on display by Posada’s refusal to play last night. What a immature baby — you put me in ninth position and I won’t play. Reminds me of little children with big paychecks. He wasn’t thinking of his team at all — just his ego. I think it was totally appropriate for Cashman to make a comment during the game. If you pull out at the final hour, it affects the entire team mojo. Being a Red Sox fan, it reminds me of Manny being Manny. He let his ego get the best of him — look where he is now. Nowhere in the midst of humiliation. Is this behavior going to be condoned? It sends a negative message to all the kids out there – I won’t play in your sandbox if I don’t get what I want. Granted, he’s been a loyal player for many years. But just like the rest of us, he’s getting older; however, his age is showing in his batting but not in his behavior But then again, we’re dealing with the Yankee franchise.
Jorge Posada’s Decision Not to Play
Fine or Suspension
There has been a discussion startedc about fines in the NFL. Several players have said that the fines do not mean a thing, part of doing business as it were. The suggestion has been made that instead of fines, suspensions should be handed down. Is this a good Idea? They were talking about helmet to helmet hits but would it extend to other penalties. Should it? I agree with one announcer who said the players of today do not use tackling techniques. More of launch and knock down rather than grab and wrap up. I think suspensions for serious(finable) penalties should be the norm. How long I do not know but the amount of the fines are not enough to prevent the behavior.
K Rod – Mets
Two things: Firstly, I believe it was indeed the Phillies fans that started the boos…..any angry Met fans would have just been chiming-in. Secondly, this guy is known for aggressive behavior…..has he ever been tested (honestly, Im not sure). This behavior is extremely common with any steroid use. Shame on MLB if he never was or never gets tested in the very near future. You did it to JC Romero, and if not to this clown, then you need to grow a set.
