A Giant Choke

The Giants did a great job screwing up a 3 game lead in the division (as usual), and now they have to face the Saints who are undefeated at home this year. Good luck. They better pull their heads out of their a** real quick or they’ll get disgraced just like they did against the Niners and the Eagles (again).

It seems nothing has changed with them. They’re still on the same path they were last year. Still calling dumb plays that go nowhere, still throwing interceptions, still blowing huge leads, and special teams is still asleep at the wheel. I’d drop dead if they could go just one game without making a mistake, or two, or three, or four.

Can you tell I’m PO’d at these guys? Anyway, good luck to all the teams this week, especially to these bananaheads I route for (if I even decide to watch it). They’re going to need it.

Nice game, Andy

Note to Andy Reid: Please retire, now. Take whatever Jeff will give you and just go. Maybe you can get another job with the next team that hires McNabb. I know I’m writing this in the anger of another embarrassment but enough is enough. In this case way more than enough. Jeff, if you let this continue you are the dumbest rich guy in America.   One of the announcers kept saying over and over the Eagles are without the services of Jackson. So bleeping what, the Cards were without the services of their starting QB and were using a kid in only his second game and they aren’t a very good team to begin with.   Again the Eagles were out- coached and out- played, and worst of all, out-gutted. After scoring only 17 points last week, the offense scores only 10 this week. Everyone will blame the defense, but this supposedly high powered offense led by the wonderfully talented Vick isn’t getting the job done. How can you not score more than 10 points against a team that is giving up more points than only four teams in the NFC. (at game time). Sure there were some dropped passes, but there were also some bad passes and Vick got real lucky, he should have had two more picks. He’s a sandlot QB at best, but at least he tries. For a guy who supposedly knows so much about QB’s Reid is wasting a lot of careers and blowing a lot of Lurie’s money. Reid, just go. Sorry for this useless post, I had to vent a little.

Bears@Eagles

Put the clamps on Forte and limit turnovers and dumb penalties and the Eagles should win this one.  I’m sure ESPN will try to hype it for all it’s worth, but it’ll be a battle of the mediocrities with the Eagles being just a little less mediocre than the Bears.

Stop the run, pressure Romo and the Eagles win.  Somehow, I have a feeling Reid and co. will find a way to make it far more complicated.

I’m surprised that this subject hasn’t been broached until now. It is a very popular subject on sports talk radio around here, being that this is the Eagles bye week, with some very passionate callers from both sides.   Here is the premise. The year that Tom Brady missed, the Pats went 11-5 under Matt Cassell. This year, the first games that Peyton Manning has missed in his entire career, the Colts have started 0-6, and have not looked good. Does this mean that Manning means more to his team than Brady? And, by the same token, does this mean that Manning is a better QB?   I am not going to give my opinion just yet. I am just throwing a locally hot topic out there to see the responses from my NFL friends.

Eagles quit?

An interesting new twist has been added to thoughts and concerns about the upcoming Eagles game, or even the season. I see Frank Gore has accused the Eagle defense of quitting in the second half last week. If a statement like that doesn’t fire up a team, nothing will. So we shall see. Might be a defining moment for our new DC.

So,,,,,,all those Castillo boosters, all those that said ‘..he`ll be fine” or “a coach is a coach” need to explain to those of us that thought this was a terrible mistake why it isn`t a terrible mistake. This ridiculous scheme he is implementing is terrible. Spreading out a D-line to create running lanes is an enormous mistake that every team so far has taken advantage of. I know,,,,,the Eagles seem to have a serious lack of players who know how to lockup a runner and the LBs are always a day late and a dollar short but to borrow a well worn Reid phrase…….” I got to put those guys in a better position to win”. So how about closing down the gaps, protecting the inexperienced LBs and giving that a shot next week.I mean,,what`s left to lose but another game. Other than Babin and Jenkins who had a good game on defense. I can`t remember seeing so many bad performances on a consistent basis. How is it that both safeties are so slow on the read and then when the get there get faked out completely or bounce off the ballcarrier? You can`t tell me that this is what they came out of training camp thinking they could use,,,,,that these glaring inadequacies weren`t seen by the coaches. If so then someone should step up at a press conference and clear the air because it sure smells bad enough I think. It`s OK to get beaten by the other team, even a bad team. It`s not OK to let them beat by you though by failing to change out of hubris or ignorance. I don`t like the idea that appears to be prevalent on this team right now that things are fine. Vick just threw for more yards then he ever has and it wasn`t enough. They blocked a FG and Akers missed a chip and it wasn`t enough.Let`s just call it UGLY for me.

On Wednesday morning, defensive tackle Mike Patterson of the Eagles suffered a seizure on the practice field that lasted four minutes. He was reported in good shape later that day. Now, after test were run to try to find the cause, it was discovered that he may have a congenital condition called arterioveous malformation,  or AVM, in the brain. The usual treatment for this is either radiation or surgery.   While the exact diagnosis has not been confirmed, it appears that he does have some kind of condition that will take some time to correct. Unimportantly, the article says that it is not immediately known what the condition will do to his football career.   IMO, football has just taken a backseat to his new, more important job of getting well. I know that the Eagles will do right by him. Lurie and Reid may not be the most astute football minds, but they are loyal and classy.   Here’s hoping that Patterson comes out of this as good as new. My prayers go out to him and his family. Get well soon.   http://www.csnphilly.com/08/04/11/Eagles-DT-Patterson-diagnosed-with-brain/xfinity.html?blockID=545933&feedID=704

The Cardinals must really like Kolb who gets a 60 million dollar contract and the cards traded CB Rodgers-Cromartie to the eagles as well for Kolb.  Maybe its me but I think the Cardinal’s might have overrated Kolb.
