Back to Article NFL declines to punish Raiders coach Cable By JOSH DUBOW, AP Sports Writer Wednesday, February 24, 2010 (02-24) 23:03 PST Alameda, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable will not be punished by the NFL after an investigation into allegations of domestic violence against women and a fight with an assistant coach. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said Wednesday that Cable’s role in the training camp altercation with assistant Randy Hanson warranted an evaluation under the league’s personal conduct policy. Cable was accused of breaking Hanson’s jaw and teeth during a fight at the team’s training camp hotel in August. The Napa County district attorney declined to file criminal charges in the case because of inconsistencies in Hanson’s story. Because there were no criminal charges, the league did not punish Cable. Hanson did file a civil lawsuit against Cable and the Raiders seeking unspecified damages for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Shortly after Cable was cleared in the training camp case, he faced allegations of a history of domestic violence against women. Cable’s first wife, Sandy Cable, and former girlfriend, Marie Lutz, told ESPN that the coach physically abused them at various times during their relationships. Cable has acknowledged striking Sandy Cable with an open hand. He said the altercation happened more than 20 years ago and was the only time he’s ever touched a woman inappropriately. Because that happened before Cable joined the NFL, Aiello said there were no grounds to punish him. Police in Alameda investigated the second incident and did not press charges. Cable could be subjected to confidential counseling if deemed appropriate by clinicians. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2010/02/24/sports/s151111S48.DTL © 2010 Hearst Communications Inc. | Privacy Policy | Feedback | RSS Feeds | FAQ | Site Index | Contact =================================================================================================== Why do I not think this story would play out the same way if it had been a player involved?

NFL The All-Decade Team The NFL has named 53 players to its All Decade Team.   I am old, born in February of 1949, but I am not that old to know that the current decade is not over until December 31st, 2010.   It all started with the New millennium, and the Y2K Bug Scare (when all our computer clocks would revert to 1901?   The Twentieth (20th) Century began on January 1st, 1901, and ended on December 31st, 2000.  That is why is was called the 20th Century!   The Twenty-first (21st)  Century ends at midnight on December 31st 2100.   The first decade of the 21st Century has a few months yet to go.   Tell a untruth long enough, with enough conviction, until everyone starts believing!   NFL Officials, should be ashamed at showing how “Stupid” they are to the Reading Public.  Sports Writers are equally as “Stupid” for writing about something as if the decade already over.   And the Reading Public, should be ashamed, for believing them!   If everything ends on a Nine (9), why don’t we have Nine Dollar Bills?   How can you trust someone, when they don’t even know how to count up to ten (10)?

Del.icio.us Facebook Reddit Drudge Google Fark Stumble It! Curtis Wenzlaff, a convicted steroids dealer who says he supplied Mark McGwire as early as the late 1980s, is speaking for the first time since McGwire’s recent admission that he used steroids during his playing career, told ESPN  Outside the Lines reporter T.J. Quinn that McGwire’s goal was to improve his performance on the field. McGwire, hired by the Cardinals as hitting coach, said only used the drugs to stay healthy. A few excerpts from the interview and a link to video of part of the interview, some of which will be shown on Sports Center today and on Sunday’s Outside the Lines. T.J. Quinn: “Would it help you hit a baseball?” Curt Wenzlaff: “Will it help you hit a baseball? Let me put it to you this way. If Paris Hilton was to take that array, she could run over Dick Butkus.” TJ: “Mark McGwire, last week when he finally admitted that he did use steroids, said he used a little bit for health reasons, to keep himself healthy. What did you think when he said that?” CW: “I chuckled. Let me put it this way. If excelling and kicking **bleep** on the field is the end result I guess that’s a healthy, good feeling. But for health, there are other things you can take for health that are anabolic, but it wouldn’t be that type of combination.” TJ: “What was his goal to take an array like this?” CW: “As anybody — bigger, faster, stronger.”
